Un padre que no sabe cómo comunicarse con su hija le envía cada día un avión de papel desde el balcón para despedirse. A través de esos mensajes, el padre pone misiones literarias a su hija para que las aclare con la complicidad de un bibliotecario escrupuloso. Así, la niña conocerá la relación entre los libros y la vida.
Muchos años después, su hija, que ahora es escritora, vuelve a la biblioteca para contar esa experiencia de iniciación que ha recogido en su primer libro.
