Era un niño como cualquier otro, que jugaba como cualquier niño a atrapar animales, lagartijas, pájaros, peces… Alegre, intrépido, osado… Demasiado osado, tanto que en una de sus aventuras cayó desde gran altura y el golpe le deformó la cara para siempre. Le convirtió, a los ojos del mundo, en un monstruo.
Se quedó solo. Perdió su nombre. Ahora todos le llamaban MOKO (“pico de pájaro” en euskera). Moko deseaba ser uno más, tener amigos, ser querido. Y encontró la manera. Descubrió que tenía un don casi mágico: Moko veía volar las palabras, y como antes las lagartijas o los pajarillos, ahora las cazaba y las convertía en verso. Ahora los otros, cuando lo miraban, no veían a un monstruo deforme, sino a un poeta con un alma bella.
Ese niño se hizo mayor. Se convirtió en Bilintx, el poeta amado por el pueblo.
