Eri Yamamoto

Eri Yamamoto was born in Osaka, Japan. She began playing classical piano aged thee and started composing at eight. In 1995, she visited New York for the first time, and was so inspired by a performance by pianist Tommy Flanagan that she decided to move to the city and study there. She entered the New School University, restigious Jazz programme, where she studied with Reggie Workman Junior Mance and LeeAnn Ledgerwood.

Since then, Yamamoto has shared her music with aficionados in New York City, as well as having performed worldwide and having released albums both single-handed and with her trio.

In 2019 Eri Yamamoto performed at the 54th Jazzaldia with the Easo Abesbatza choir, the same year we were able to enjoy her work Goshu Ondo at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre.

In the company of her Eri Yamamoto Trio, together with choirs and orchestras, Yamamoto always brings beautiful and elegant compositions. However, perhaps the way she best transmits her emotions is when playing solo on the piano, rendering highly sensitive, profound, lyrical and evocative music.

In paying concerts, the full price of a ticket must be paid for all spectators over the age of 3 (inclusive).

The 56th Jazzaldia, running from July 21-25, offering a total of 60 free and paying concerts in 8 venues throughout the city, will be a smoke-free space.
